Physicist to Head CMS Project at Large Hadron Collider

Joseph Incandela, professor of physics at UC Santa Barbara, has been elected by his colleagues as the next spokesperson for the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Europe.

Incandela is the first U.S. scientist to be elected spokesperson for an experiment at the LHC, the world’s largest particle accelerator. The LHC was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
